I'd like to put congress and the administration on a financial diet like the one recommended by the Grace Commission Report to Reagan on Jan. 15, 1984. They should not be allowed to spend one penny more than is collected in taxes, the budget should be frozen at its current level, congress should be mandated to repay every penny to social security since they began raiding it to finance Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, 10% of every tax dollar should be spent to pay off principal on the national debt and interest on the national debt should be set at 3%, all government services should be trimmed to the bone, including public education and postal services, all unnecessary bureaucracies should be eliminated, all lobbying should be declared illegal with 20-year mandatory prison sentences, the 1,020,780 square miles of U.S. land currently under the control of the federal government should be equally divided among the nation's 305,000,000 people, (which works out to about 3 acres per man, woman and child), and the revenues derived from this land as well as the ultimate control should be assigned to the people of the United States on a per-family-unit sectional basis. (Other than this, I have no opinion.)
